Improve Body Image – Improve Self Esteem to Lose Weight Naturally

June 19, 2010

Do you feel loved and appreciated today? How about feeling sexy and confident? If your answer is no, it means you haven’t practiced these self esteem activities. Studies show that if we can learn how to love ourselves the way we are, we will be able manage our weight more easily. If you cannot lose weight, and want natural fast weight loss, start by working on your self esteem first.

I would like to share with you an abstract from the article Self Esteem, Body Image and Weight Issues by Kelly Stallings, a licensed professional counselor. Click to listen to Kelly’s self confidence tips on how to raise your self esteem, lose weight using common sense self esteem for women activities, three specific ways to reinforce weight loss goals, and much more.

Three simple ways to Improve Body Image – Improve Self Esteem to Lose Weight Naturally:

1. Love your body as-is. Love your best qualities as well as your perceived flaws. Verbalize this love for your body in place of verbalizing the self criticisms. Feel the love for yourself as you look in the mirror. Practice this exercise daily until it fSelf Esteem and Weight Loss for Womeneels normal. It will begin to feel comfortable with practice. Positive feelings create positive choices to support your best body.

2. Compliment daily. Eliminate all self critical thoughts and statements as you recognize them in daily life. Do this for yourself and other women. Compliment yourself multiple times daily on your look and positive actions. Boost other women by complimenting them also. Give compliments to your female friends as well as women you do not know. This creates a new habit of women supporting women feeling good about themselves.

3. Avoid media that portrays women as unrealistically thin. Change the television station. Do not buy the magazines or the movie tickets. Support media and programming that portrays realistic looking women as smart and competent. Media will adjust their focus to capture our dollars.

Improving your self-esteem and body image perception will naturally lead to weight loss. When we feel good, we make better choices about food and exercise. When we feel bad, good choices are replaced with comfort foods, inactivity and more self criticisms. Teach other women to implement these simple strategies into their life. Women are hardwired to help and support others. Use this information to help and support your sisters, mothers, grandmothers, and girlfriends.

Boost your self-esteem and reduce your waistline!

Listen to Your Body and Weight with Creative Food Visualization and Meditation

June 2, 2010

To feel and look fabulous, we need learn to listen to our bodies.  Our body will always give us advance signals that something is wrong   But did you know that we can also talk to our body?  If you enjoyed our first visualization exercise – “Food Meditation as a Stress Relief Tool and Weight Loss Technique”, you will like this exercise.

I would like to share with you an excerpt from The Self-Healing Cook Book by Kristina Turner.

Here is a simple exercise you can use whenever your mind feels saturated with to much new information about dieting. It can help you tune-in to your own body’s innate wisdom…and help you get clear about  your next steps in self-healing.Creative Food Visualization and Meditation Exercise

  • Begin by sitting quietly, in a comfortable chair.
  • Relax…..let your body sink down into the chair…..giving your weight to the earth. Notice how you are breathing…and gradually let it get deeper and more even.
  • Now, in your imagination, go inside your body.  Look for any place that feels uncomfortable, or in need of special, loving attention. Talk to it, like you would talk to a friend….

“Hi there, can I help? What do you need?”  Listen to an answer.

  • Ask it to tell you or show you a picture of how it wants to feel.
  • Now, get a sense of a particular food that would make your body feel both calm and energized.  Is there a new food it wants to try this week? Or a familiar food that would be especially vitalizing?
  • When you have an answer, say thanks! Open your eyes, and decide how and when you want to cook your “healing food”.  Finally, savor it.  Just one food, eaten in a spirit of cooperating with your body’s intuitive needs, may be the most important first step to take towards gaining greater control of your health.

I hope you enjoyed this creative food visualization and meditation exercise and will share it with your friends a family.

Breathe, smile and be happy.
